Report on Annual Expenditures for Travel, Hospitality and Conferences
As required by the Treasury Board Directive for the Management of Expenditures on Travel, Hospitality and Conferences, this report provides information on the total annual expenditures for each of travel, hospitality and conferences for the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (the Agency) for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2011.
This information is updated annually and does not contain information withheld under the Access to Information Act or the Privacy Act.
Expenditures for travel, hospitality and conferences incurred by federal departments and agencies are related to supporting departmental mandate(s) and the government's priorities.
The expenditures incurred by the Agency relate to its mandate and priorities, which are:
- delivering high-quality environmental assessments (EAs) that contribute to informed decision making, in support of sustainable development, and serving as the centre of expertise on environmental assessment within the federal government.
- supporting decisions that protect the environment, while fostering strong economic growth and a high quality of life for Canadians. This is achieved by ensuring through an EA that federal government authorities identify and consider the potential environmental effects of policies, plans, programs, and projects before final decisions are made.
- playing key roles in delivering and supporting environmental assessments under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, which establishes the requirements for the EA of projects, and in providing guidance to EAs under the Cabinet Directive on the Environmental Assessment of Policy, Plan and Program Proposals, which sets out the EA requirements for those types of decisions.
- leading the coordination of federal EA requirements with those of the provinces and territories and administering a participant funding program to facilitate public participation and Aboriginal consultation during comprehensive studies of major resource projects and assessments by review panels.
